Biography

Debra Baker won The Stage Scholarship to attend The Academy Drama School and graduated in July 2006.  This London based actress has spent the past 2 years gaining more experience in film and has completed 18 shorts and 1 feature film to date - with several projects in the pipeline for 2008.  She has also been busy with various theatre productions including a Commedia dell'arte piece; recording for an audio book; corporate videos and events; and devising and touring a forum theatre piece.

Debra is a versatile and strong character actress with excellent stage presence and also an actress who gives a natural and believable performance on screen.

News

Debra has just played Martha in 'Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis' by Charlotte Jones at The Courtyard Studio Theatre  for Large Print Theatre Company.  This production, directed by Jon Bradshaw, will transfer to The Brockley Jack for a 3 week run from 11-29 November 2008.

BAFTA in London's Piccaddilly was the venue for the premiere screening of  'The Butterfly Tattoo'.  This adaptation of a Phillip Pullman novel is Debra's first role in a feature film.  For more details about the project, please visit:  http://www.tbtproject.com/

'The East Front' will be screened in competition in the digital section of the Greek Drama Film Festival (Digi 2008) in summer 2008.  This is Greek writer/director Giannis Georgiou's graduation film from the National Film & Television School.  In 'The East Front' Debra plays Margaret, a stressed, pregnant woman whose family are being evicted from their east London home by property developers, to make way for a development of luxury flats and offices - however her mother is not going without putting up a fight!

 

 

 
Forthcoming Productions

Debra will be playing Annie in 'Angry Young Men' - an evening of short plays - for Built Up Productions.  Written and directed by Katie Beswick, this production will take place at The Space in Autumn 2008.
