Biography

Since graduating from drama school in July 2006, Debra has been gaining more experience in film and has completed 20 shorts and 1 feature film to date.  She has also been busy with various theatre productions, including classical, contemporary and forum theatre; recording for an audio book; corporate videos and events; and a TV commercial.

Debra is a versatile and strong character actress with excellent stage presence and also an actress who gives a natural and believable performance on screen.

Debra is also a drama facilitator/workshop tutor and works freelance for many theatre companies and arts organisations, including the following :

Current News

Debra has just filmed the role of Melanie Grayson, an office manager, in 'All Clean'.  The script has been developed through 'The Film Improvisation Project', a project created and developed by director Giannis Georgiou, which allows actors to come together to improvise on film.  The aim of the project is to develop characters and situations, from which a script will be produced.   For more information please visit: www.thefilmimprovisationproject.org.uk

Debra has just finished the  Actors Studio 10-week 'Shot To Be Seen' course, and had the opportunity to meet and work with industry professionals including Richard Raymond (producer), Jeremy Zimmerman (casting director), Catherine Willis (casting director) and Nic Phillips (director).  For more info please click www.actorsstudio.co.uk

BAFTA in London's Piccaddilly was the venue for the premiere screening of  'The Butterfly Tattoo'.  This adaptation of a Phillip Pullman novel is Debra's first role in a feature film, which has just gained a distribution deal in the USA.  For more details about the project, please visit: http://www.tbtproject.com  

 

Forthcoming Productions

Debra can be seen playing Cheryl James, the mother of a young offender, in 'Youth and Community Justice' which will be shown on BBC2 on Wednesday 17th June at 04.00am, as part of BBC Learning.

Debra is filming a comic ident for Currys in June 2009, which shows the distasters that can occur when people try to install electrical and plumbing goods without professional assistance.  This ident will air around transmissions of 'The Simpsons' on Sky One.
