Biography

Since graduating from drama school in 2006, Debra has been gaining more screen experience and has completed over 25 shorts, 2 feature films and various roles in TV, corporate videos and commercials.  She has also been busy with theatre productions including Shakespeare, contemporary and forum theatre.

Debra is a versatile and strong character actress with excellent stage presence and also an actress who gives a natural and believable performance on screen.

Debra is also a drama facilitator/workshop tutor and works freelance for many theatre companies and arts organisations, including the following :

Current News

Debra has just shot on the feature film Junkhearts, playing a receptionist opposite her old  friend, British actor Eddie Marsan.  Directed by Tinge Krishan and produced by Karen Katz for Coded Pictures

Debra has just filmed the role of Kim (May's mother) in 'Parallel Lines - Side by Side' for Fingercuff Productions, written and directed by Jamie Hooper.  Debra's daughter, Mia, plays the lead role of May. For more info go to:  www.fingercuffproductions.co.uk

Debra has just played Pam in 'Its All About the Little Things' directed by Rob Gomez for Satusfaction, which takes a comic look at the tensions between a husband and wife amid the normality of the breakfast routine.  This film will be edited by 3 different teams - a top drama team, a documentary team and a novice team - and these different edits will be shown in seminars at the  Rushes Short Film Festival in July.

Debra has just played Julia Fernando-Lopez in 'Human Interest' by Megan Ford, as part of ELECTION DRAMA produced by Supporting Wall.  Five new plays were created in response to Election Night on May 6th, cast on May 7th and produced and rehearsed for performance at the New Players on Saturday 8th May. The plays were written by Che Walker, Phil Willmott, Anders Lustgarten, Rex Obano and Megan Ford.

  

 Forthcoming Productions

Debra is playing Lotta in 'Elephant 21' directed by Ben May for The Mayhem Company.  This play, inspired by local histories, tells the story of a family living in Elephant & Castle over the past 100 years, and will be performed at The Royal Court's Theatre Local in Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre from 14-24 July.  For more information go to:  http://themayhemcompany.net/elephant-21-the-mayhem-company.php 

 

Debra will be playing the role of Lynn in 'Planting David' a new play by Laura Major, directed by Jo Harris.  This one-act play observes rural living, friendship and loyalty among a group of four lady community gardeners in a Devonshire village.  It is part of the 'Best of Festivals' season which will be performed at the brand new Waterloo East Theatre on 12th and 13th August. 

 

Debra is very pleased to announce she will be performing in another Philip Ridley play, following on from the success of Mercury Fur.  She will be playing Anita in 'Vincent River' directed by Gary Reid for Charmers Productions at The Old Red Lion from 2nd to 27th November 2010.
